Facelift Consultation
Michelle
Question:
I recently requested a consultation for a facelift. I am 41 years old. I have started to see sagging, but mostly on one side of my face. I wanted a more "refreshed-younger look- but nothing too drastic. I was ready to schedule my surgery when the plastic surgeon I had selected said that he took a closer look at my face and said he wanted me to see his associate that specializes in chins. Up until now I never really had a problem with my chin- however I was told that my chin was weak. They both agreed that without the chin augmentation, my miniface lift would actually look worse. I can't afford a chin lift at this time and so I'm feeling a little hopeless and very disappointed. Is it possible that without a chin surgery a little skin lift would look worse? I really would like a second opinion.

Answer:
Michelle,
Chin augmentation is sometimes used during the facelift procedure in patients that have weak chins. However, there people with weak chins that are happy with this characteristic. A facelift procedure can be performed on a patient with a weak chin with satisfactory results. In my opinion, a facelift performed on a patient with a weak chin will not look worse. I suggest you seek another opinion.
