Out of Town Patients
An ever-increasing number of patients from out of the South Florida region choose Dr. Bustillo as their Facial Plastic Surgeon. Most are able to return home the following week after surgery.
As an expert in rapid recovery surgery, Dr. Bustillo's approach allows out of town patients to confidently schedule surgery and plan their return to home in a predictable manner.
When visiting patients schedule surgery, our office helps to arrange hotel accommodations, and nursing care as needed. Certainly, we try to make the experience as easy as possible.
FLY IN FOR SURGERY
We understand that it is often inconvenient, time-consuming and expensive for patients to fly to consult with Dr. Bustillo and then fly back again a few weeks later for surgery. We have designed a program to facilitate your experience that will allow you to determine the options that are available to you with ease and understanding. Here's how it works:
Make Contact
The first step is to call or email our patient care consultant, Katia, and request the new patient information forms. You can also download them.
Fill in the Blanks
Fill out our new patient information sheet and return to our office via fax or email. (The paperwork can also be mailed to our office with your do-it-yourself pre-operative photos – see below).
Send Photos
Please provide clear, recent close-up front and side photos. Photos should clearly show your area of concern and can be emailed or sent via regular email.
Telephone Consultation
Dr. Bustillo will assess if you are a good candidate for the procedure that you are interested in and will call you to discuss your procedure. You will then be contacted by Katia who will discuss pre-operative care, costs, recovery, local accommodations and any questions related to your procedure(s).
Schedule Your Procedure
Once you have decided to proceed, a deposit is required to reserve your surgery date. The remaining balance for surgery is due 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
Read, Initial, Sign
Shortly after your surgery is scheduled, you will receive a packet in the mail containing pre-operative instructions and procedure consents. These documents must be read carefully and all instructions followed closely. All contents must be signed and initialed. The entire pre-operative packet must be brought with you to your pre-operative office visit. If you have questions at this time please call or email our office.

Our local international airport is Miami International Airport (MIA). For a map to our office from MIA, click here. We are located approximately 15 minutes from MIA. If you are traveling via Ft. Lauderdale International Airport, the drive is approximately 45 minutes from our office. For a map to our office from FLL, click here. You MUST arrive one to two days prior to your surgery date. At a designated time during this period you will meet and consult with Dr. Bustillo. If you have any questions please call or e-mail our office.
Recovery
We advise all patients that fly-in for surgery to spend at least the first night at one of the nearby hotels. In the days that follow we will see you post-operatively and depending upon the procedures that have been performed you may return home about a week later. In the event that you require any medical attention after returning home we will refer you to a local physician for a check-up. Your health and safety remain our number one priority.
