A liquid facelift is the name given to a combination of non-invasive procedures

Is a liquid facelift safer than facelift surgery? Can I achieve anywhere near surgery-like results from one?

Answer:

A liquid facelift is the name given to a combination of non-invasive procedures done simultaneously. The rejuvenation of the upper one third of the face is done with Botox or Dysport injections. The wrinkles in this part of the face are all caused by muscle hyperactivity. These wrinkles include the glabellar, crow’s feet, and the horizontal forehead creases. All of these can be dramatically improved with the application f Botox or Dysport, which act by relaxing the muscles, and thus making these areas smoother. The wrinkles in the lower two thirds of the face, such as the nasolabial folds and the marionette lines, are cause by loss of elasticity, volume loss, and gravity. The injection of tissue fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane, or Juvederm will smooth out and fill in the valleys and wrinkles in these areas. When Botox and facial fillers are used together to rejuvenate the face, it is often called a liquid facelift. This procedure is done in the office on an outpatient basis. Patients usually return to normal activity the same or the next day. Because the liquid facelift is done in the office without any anesthesia, it is vary safe procedure that virtually any patient can have done. Patients that have the liquid facelift will notice an improvement in the face, but will not gain any improvement in the neck. In fact, this is one of the main drawbacks from this procedure. Patients that are looking for an improvement in the neck area should strongly consider a surgical facelift.
