As one of the best plastic surgeons in Miami, Dr. Bustillo sees a lot of patients. What you may not know is that a significant portion of those patients don’t actually live around Miami! People travel from all over to have their procedure done by Dr. Bustillo, which means that our office is very well equipped to handle out of town patients. We want your experience to be positive and successful from the first day you contact us to the last day of your recovery, no matter where you travel from.
Contacting Our Office
We can be reached directly by phone at (305) 663-3380 on weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can also email us through our Contact page here on our site. Once you’ve contacted us and provided us with your basic information, you’ll be connected with Jessica, our patient care coordinator. She acts as your liaison between you and Dr. Bustillo until you’re able to meet with him in person. Jessica will send you some patient information forms to fill out so we have a better idea of what kind of procedure you’re interested in having, your health history, and some photographs of you.
Taking Your Pictures
It can be difficult to arrange an in-person consultation with Dr. Bustillo when you’re an out of town patient, which is why he needs to have high quality photos of you so he can see the area where you want surgery and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Take pictures of the area from all sides, including close up shots. Make sure you use a good camera – a cell phone selfie isn’t going to cut it!
Scheduling Your Consultation
After Dr. Bustillo has reviewed your forms and your photos, our office will contact you and schedule a consultation. This appointment allows Dr. Bustillo to ask you questions, go over your surgical options, and answer any questions you might have about the process. You can have the consultation over the phone, or using Skype video conferencing.
Scheduling Your Surgery
After your consultation is over, Jessica will contact you to schedule a day for your surgery. She’ll also go over the cost of your procedure and payment options, as well as assist you with finding local accommodations for your trip. Jessica will then send you a packet of information in the mail that will contain all the necessary information you need for the surgery, including pre- and post-surgery instructions. Make sure you understand them and be sure to call if you have any concerns or questions.
Traveling for Surgery
We ask that you arrive at least two days before your surgery appointment date so you have time to visit our office and go over any last minute details or paperwork. This time also allows Dr. Bustillo to meet you in person and discuss final preparations for your procedure. After your surgery is over, you should plan to stay in the area for about a week. Dr. Bustillo will meet with you the day after your surgery and then again after a few days to make sure that your recovery is going well and that you are clear to go home. The exact time frame for when you will be able to go home depends on your procedure and how well you are taking to the recovery process.
Finding Accommodations
We are more than happy to help you find a local hotel within an easy distance of our office! There are many places in the Miami area that are close to the airport and close to our office. Our office is about 15 minutes away from the Miami International Airport and about 45 minutes away from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, making your traveling a breeze once you arrive and when you’re ready to head home again.
