Many patients that had a rhinoplasty in the past now look “ pinched “ with a very narrow nasal tip. They may even have difficulty breathing. This occurs when the surgeon attempted to narrow the tip by removing too much cartilage. As the healing occurs, scar tissue takes over and contracts the tip of the nose. The result is a very narrow tip that cannot support itself. During breathing the side of the nose collapses and obstructs the airway.
I reshape the tip of the nose using special sutures. In fact this allows preservation of most, if not all, of the tip cartilage. Healing occurs around the intact cartilage, preserving a very natural look. Because cartilage was not removed, breathing remains normal.
